I realize that I might make some enemies with this post. Or with part of this post. But I'm gonna go ahead and just say it. In many ways, I prefer winter to summer. I do not like to be hot. At all. Not even a little bit. So forgive me if I am a bit crabby at this friggin' HOT day. The heat index will potentially be 110 degrees today. Ugh. Here is a list of 110 things (not really) I'd rather do than have a 110 degree day:
1) Watch the same episode of Sesame Street 110 times.
2) Pluck out all my body hair with a tweezer.
3) Eat nothing but cold cabbage soup for a week.
4) Have to wear 110 sweaters to stay warm on a cold winter day.
5) Listen to the song "Love Me" by the Cardigans 110 times in a row (this one is pushin' it).
Well...you get the idea. No need to go on.

Can you believe June is nearly over? Where did it go? Here are a few things we've been up to this month.

Thank you, Auntie Carrie for the Sesame Street toys. They have quickly become favorites. Especially the phone. She loves it!

There you have it. If I don't have a chance to tell you, HAPPY 4TH OF JULY! We have big plans for the 4th. Well, kind of. If you count the town festival in Chariton, IA as being big. Mike will be in the parade for the bank. That will be fun to see. We'll have lots of pics to post. Have a fun and safe long weekend celebration!

This entry is l o n g overdue. Almost 2 weeks ago we ventured back to Wisconsin to visit family. We had a wonderful time! I'll let the pictures do the talkin'.

We enjoyed a beautiful evening out on the patio. Fishing, fire, visiting equal a wonderful night.

Jack was quite the fisherman. The sunnies were spawning just below the patio. I'm pretty sure the kids kept catching the same few fish. Nevertheless, it was excellent entertainment. And yes, that is Jack kissing the fish.

After a couple of days with Mike's family we went to stay with mine. We were supposed to have our 4th annual cousins campout, but the weather did not cooperate. We were rained out, which was a major disappointment. We managed to have a good time, still. We spent Saturday at my sister Sam's house. I get an F- in taking pictures of my family. Here are a few.

We had a fun-filled weekend, but mostly it was just so nice to see family again. We miss you all again already. Until next time, Hugs n kisses!

Six Months

Evelyn is six months old today. I cannot believe it. All day long my mind has been flashing back to scenes from December 7, 2010. 8:10am: woke up & my water broke; 10:15am: on the way to the hospital & contractions started.......4:30pm: epidural. I don't think I will ever forget the events of that day (and if I do, I have the details written in my journal : ) I remember being so excited to finally know if we were having a boy or girl. I was finally going to see what my baby looked like. And Mike and I were FINALLY going to be parents! Oh, it was a magical day.

To say Evelyn has changed in the last month would be an understatement. We have definitely had a month of milestones.

She also sat up and rolled over for the first time this month--but I don't have pictures of those moments (what kind of mother am I?!)

She pulled herself up to sitting for the first time in the bath the other day. That was an exciting moment for both her and I. She tries to do it all the time now, but not always successfully.

She had her first bad hair day yesterday. She finally has enough hair for this to happen!

She is teething for the first time. Her favorite way to sooth is chewing on her blankies.

And she has officially started reaching for {E V E R Y T H I N G}. Nothing is safe from her curious little hands now. Not the computer, camera, plates of food, Amos...nothing. She wants it all. And when she gets a hold of it, it's in her mouth.

I am so grateful for a beautiful, adorable, healthy, smiley little, baby girl! She has made life an absolute joy. I would rather have countless sleepless nights, go deaf from the pitch of her scream, and go bald from her pulling out my hair than to never have had her in my life. I love her more than words can describe and thank God for her every day. Happy half birthday Evelyn Grace!
